When you’re not well you go the doctor who takes a history of your symptoms. Based on these symptoms, you are assigned a name for a disease. With this diagnosis, a therapy or procedure is prescribed or, more likely, a drug is prescribed to suppress the symptoms. Nosology is the classification and naming of disease.
In this interview I discuss the futility of nosology with Doctor Vincent Bellonzi of the Austin Wellness Clinic and how this practice encourages people to embrace and identify with their diseases, which are nothing more than labels describing a set of symptoms. Numerous factors may be responsible for illness, and finding the underlying cause is the only real way to find healing.
Doctor Bellonzi practices Functional Medicine, which is a holistic approach to balancing the body and restoring health. In this video you’ll learn some of the many things that can contribute to upsetting the balance in the body.
