How Toxins in Your Environment Can Make You Sick and What to Do About It

by Joanne

in Health Practices

Do you wake up in the morning at home exhausted but wake up refreshed when you sleep somewhere else? Did you get sick shortly after you moved into a new home? Are you hypersensitive to odors and chemicals? Do you feel ill all day until you leave your workplace? Do you suffer from illnesses that your doctors don’t understand?

Birth defects, premature puberty, nervous system disorders, infertility, motor coordination, mental illness, depression, suicide, cancer, all of these and more can be caused by unsuspected toxins.

The average newborn baby now has 287 toxic chemicals in his body or her body at birth. This means that that infant was marinated for nine months in a solution that contained substances that damage the immune system. — Doris Rapp

We have polluted our planet with toxic chemicals (2.5 billion pounds each year), and we are paying the price in poor health and lethal diseases. Dr. Doris Rapp has been studying the effects of toxins on people for decades, and has written several books on how to recognize and reverse chemical sensitivity in yourself and your loved ones.

Before you can even begin to reduce the toxins in your body, you must ensure you are not being exposed to them in your environment. In this interview, Doris discusses the prevalence of toxins in the environment, who is likely to be affected, how toxins affect our bodies, symptoms to watch for, how to test if something is bad for us, and how to pinpoint where we are being exposed and make changes to improve our health.

Total time: 71 minutes.

She is a certified specialist in Environmental Medicine. She has published numerous medical articles, authored chapters in medical texts and written many books and booklets for the public about allergy. She has also produced numerous educational videos and audiotapes for the public, educators and physicians. These demonstrate the dramatic physical and behavioral changes in both children and adults that can be produced using a more precise method of allergy testing called Provocation/Neutralization.

I doubt manufacturer’s purposely look for toxins specifically to put in mattresses as fire retardants, but it’s very possible that they do contain harmful chemicals.

It’s hardly ever mentioned, and I don’t know of any scientific studies on it, but what are your thoughts on magnetic beds/pads? There’s a whole industry on it, tons of people for and against it, but it would be interesting to hear from someone who studies toxins, and perhaps alternative angles. Magnetico, for example, uses uni-polar magnets, but there’s others that are alternating poles… what’s best?

No one’s saying the manufacturers do it on purpose, just that they must now legally use fire retardants, and many are toxic by their very nature.

I don’t know anything about magnetic beds, but I do lack faith that science knows best how to manipulate my energy field. And I certainly wouldn’t trust my body being exposed to 8 hours of this manipulation. But I would happily sleep in a tent on a nice, fat cushion on the ground.
